Vice Provost for Faculty Relations: This Administrative Assistant position is responsible for the support of Western Washington University’s new Vice Provost for Faculty Relations.
The Vice Provost for Faculty Relations
Provides vision and leadership with regard to faculty welfare issues and coordinates faculty personnel actions, leave and accommodation policies.
Administrates the faculty appointment and review process and is involved in the creation, recruitment, appointment and management of faculty positions.
Works with other university administrators and faculty to strengthen and enhance faculty professional development.
Monitors the implementation of the faculty collective bargaining agreement and is responsible for investigating and coordinating the resolution of compliance issues.
Western Washington University is a comprehensive state university, highly ranked nationally, with 12,500 students and 645 faculty in seven colleges and the graduate school.
Administrative Assistant Responsibilities:
Manages Vice Provost’s schedule and calendar, handles correspondence and mail, anticipates problems, and identifies projects related to the general goals of the office.
Organizes and coordinates meetings, retreats and workshops; makes travel arrangements; and assists in the preparation of presentations and reports.
Provides a wide range of confidential and organizational functions in support of other administrators and staff in the Office of the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs and is responsible for other projects as assigned.
This is a demanding professional position in a high-energy environment which interacts closely with faculty, administrators, staff, and students.

REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications:
Five years of progressively responsible professional office experience with the ability to work independently in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Three years experience as the principal administrative/executive secretarial assistant for a senior-level administrator.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and an electronic mail and scheduling program.
Extensive scheduling experience for individuals and groups of various sizes.
Excellent communication skills, including written skills with a variety of business writing, editing, and proofreading activities.
Proficiency in researching information, including internet searches.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Proven ability to assimilate complex information, maintain confidentiality, resolve sensitive situations appropriately, and work effectively with diverse populations
Desired Qualifications:
Professional experience in higher education.
Ability to organize and coordinate retreats and workshops.
Desktop Publishing and website experience.
