Assistant Manager for Continuing Medical Education (CME)
THE POSITION:
City of Hope’s Continuing Medical Education Department coordinates and produces educational activities for medical practitioners that serve to maintain, develop, or increase their knowledge, skills, and professional performance in service of patients, the public, or their profession/specialty. By organizing and/or hosting from 10 to 15 events per year, The CME department at City of Hope serves to broaden the facility's exposure to the scientific and medical community as a world-renown center for cancer research and treatment, as well as provide ample opportunity for its staff practitioners to acquire and disseminate the most cutting-edge information relevant to cancer pathologies and therapies.

Additionally, the position entails flexibility in scheduling work hours (flex time) and opportunities for periodic telecommuting are available as well.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership for conceptualizing, developing, advertising, organizing and producing Continuing Medical Education events sponsored by City of Hope, with events ranging from weekly one-hour grand rounds to multi-day, multi-specialty local regional and national conferences.
- Soliciting grants for CME department, including state/federal government grants (especially R-13 special projects grants), pharmaceutical grants, foundation grants and community health and outreach grants. Additionally, the role will involve providing and producing information for post-award grant accounting and reporting.
- Developing and implementing CME programs for journals, including creating and organizing content, ensuring compliance with Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) policies and guidelines, and developing processes for outcomes data gathering and reporting.
- Researching, gathering, analyzing and summarizing data for administrative reports, including yearly CME department financial review.
- Serving as City of Hope Continuing Medical Education (CME) departmental liaison for CME Minority Community Outreach Program, including planning and implementing actions to produce minority outreach activities.
- Providing short- and long-range planning and policy or program development by analyzing operational policies and resource utilization.
- Providing day-to-day administrative, policy and programmatic support to the Manager of Continuing Medical Education, as well as directing work of CME administrative/clerical staff.
REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS SOUGHT:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
- Prior experience (> 3 years) in healthcare educational organization required
- Event planning experience required
- Management experience and well as strong leadership & delegation skills required
- Very strong written and verbal communications skills
- Very strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate and liaison with a diverse audience of internal and external professionals
The successful candidate will have experience working in a team environment and in a medium- to large-sized organization, in one or more of the following domains:
- Continuing Medical Education and/or Continuing Professional Education
- Healthcare Administration

- Marketing
- Pharmaceutical Sales
