Assistant Manager/Benefits

Our Client an OEM in Alabama is looking for an Assistant Manager of Benefits. Ideal candidate will Manage and oversee all company benefit plans and processes and maintains compliance with various benefit laws (ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, USERRA, etc). Maintains current benchmarking on Benefit programs and best practices. Facilitates management and team member understanding of all benefit plans and procedures.

¨ Assists with negotiations for all benefit and retirement plans such as 401k, healthcare, disability & life insurance.Serves as a liaison between contracted benefit providers and our client.

¨ Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (Leave of Absence Reports, Claims Reports, etc.) as needed.

¨ Supervises workflow of Benefits Specialists.

¨ Identifies ways to improve efficiencies within the Benefit functions and identifies best practices for process improvement.

¨ Assists in development of overall Benefit procedures by recommending improvements or changes when deemed necessary for greater efficiency.

¨ Audits work of all employees on an ongoing basis.

¨ Solves problems concerning benefit plans, answers inquiries, and enforces benefit policies.

¨ Surveys industry to determine company’s competitive position in regards to Benefit plans and offerings.

¨ Implements and creates benefit communications for television and newsletter.

¨ Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and stand and walk throughout the plant and office settings.



POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Planning and organization: an ability to plan and manage multiple projects. Strong follow-up skills required.

• Strong customer service orientation.

• Attention to detail.

• Problem analysis and problem resolution.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• High performance teams and a strong team player.

• Computer proficiency: Word, Excel and Power Point.

• Manufacturing experience preferred.

• 5-7 years experience in analysis of benefit plan design and negotiations.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

• Ability to present benefit plan information to groups & mgmt.

• Capability of effective planning and priority setting.

• Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.



Education:

Bachelors Degree in a related field or 5-7 years Benefit experience. Plus a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience of a Benefits department preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form.



Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):

CEBS or PHR preferred, but not required
