Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Finance and Administration serves as the chief financial officer for the College and is responsible for the planning and day-to-day management of all Financial and Administrative functions of the College, including Administrative Computing, Telecommunications, Auxiliary Campus Services (such as food services, bookstore, etc.), Finance and Business Services, and Human Resources.
The Vice President serves as a member of the President's Senior Leadership Team and works collaboratively with other executives, students, faculty and staff of the College and external constituencies. The Vice President ensures that all College and University fiscal policies are implemented and that all appropriate procedures are codified implemented and reinforced. The Vice President provides regular financial management reports to the President and to those responsible for financial management operations at the University. The Vice President is responsible for implementing best business practices and procedures to enhance the administrative and fiscal services of the College, and provides vision, leadership and administrative oversight for the following major functions:
General Administration:
Ensures the appropriate and effective administration of institutional resources including risk management and insurance, process and records management, regulatory compliance, and administrative processes. The Vice President oversees an information technology office that provides hardware and software services to all administrative offices, and a telecommunications office, which is responsible for the provision of telephony and related services to all campus users.
Financial Management:
Provides key business services and ensures an appropriate control environment in budgeting, budget development and implementation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general accounting, grant and contract accounting, purchasing, travel, payroll, and asset management. Manages the receipt, custody and disbursement of funds according to University requirements.
Human Resources:
Administers high quality employment services, employee relations, benefits, organizational and professional development and employee recognition programs.
Auxiliary Services:
Chairs the Auxiliary Enterprise Corporation Board consisting of administrators, faculty and students, which oversees contracts for the bookstore, food services and other campus services, and uses the generated revenue to fund a variety of programs and projects which enhance campus life.
Trusts and Investment:
Ensures appropriate stewardship by providing expertise in managing banking services, gift, receipting, debt management and the management of trusts and investments as stipulated by University policy.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
Candidates should have minimum of ten (10) years of leadership in higher education or progressively responsible experience in senior financial management positions. Minimum qualifications include: an advanced degree preferably an MBA with CPA qualification; proven or demonstrated commitment to diversity; demonstrated ability to identify problems, develop alternative solutions, make decisions, achieve consensus on a course of action, and implement programs; excellent written and oral communications skills; and knowledge of computing.
Salary:
The position is within the CUNY Executive Compensation Plan, offers a competitive salary (commensurate with qualifications and experience) and benefits package, including annual leave, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
