Training & Development Specialist -- Finance

Hours/Schedule: 8:00 AM -- 5:00 PM Description: Conducts ongoing job competency assessments to develop staff, builds job efficiencies, and ensures that appropriate training programs are developed. Designs, develops, and delivers training programs (both for Finance Staff and for corporate constituancy), on Finance processes. Includes the maintenance and development of job aids to ensure effective classroom learning and application of principles on the job. Includes, but is not limited to, Finance New Staff Member Orientation, Budget Overview, New Manager Orientation. Evaluates learning products, performs cost/benefit analyses, and makes recommendations. Ensures appropriate use of alternative learning venues (e-learning, etc.). Assists managers in development and coaching of staff. Coordinates training activities to support career development of staff. Includes maintenance of job description "database". Measures and evaluates the impact of training programs and tools; modifies, or expands as required. Manages finance department training budget. Updates and maintains training information on Finance website. Includes uploading documents with current training opportunities and posting any new manuals, job aids, etc. Acts as a liaison with 3rd party vendors for training courses. Coordinates dates, number of attendees, chargebacks for class costs as appropriate, and any reporting or follow-up that is required (class evaulations, entering attendance, etc.). Maintains all Finance related training data and information in eWork. Provides managers with reporting on a periodic, or as needed, basis regarding class attendance. Provide suggestions for increasing interest and attendance regarding available training opportunities. Communicate regularly with all Finance staff. Maintain CPE database, schedule and coordinate montly CPE tape series. Issues reports as needed.
Job Requirements
Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred. Five or more years of related experience, equivalent training and/ or work experience. Financial services and/or accounting experience highly preferred. Background in adult learning theory or instructional design helpful.Proficient in the use of PCs and software, particularly in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).Strong facilitation and presentation skills, strong planning, and organizational skills. Ability to learn quickly and understand basic accounting concepts. Needs assessment and evaluation skills, important. Potential to manage staff if required in the future. May be responsible for coordinating the activities of other staff in the section.
