Role and responsibilities:
Become a member of the Advisory Consultations team within the Independence Office Policy & Consulting Group
Assist in providing/developing guidance to Advisory for scope-of-service independence issues, including participation in development of Global SOPS and/or US-specific guidance
Develop responses to independence inquiries received, including preliminary and follow-up research of the SEC, AICPA, IFAC and other regulatory guidance, analysis, internal consultation, obtaining review/approval of proposed conclusions, creating and refining written responses, ongoing e-mail and or telephonic communications with audit and/or engagement teams to solicit greater detail.
Document consultation details and conclusions in the Independence Consulting Database, Call Center database, or in personal files
Participate in consultations with regulators on resolution of specific matters
Assist in subject matter expert reviews of policy and training materials
Assist in broadening the understanding within the Independence Office of the Advisory practice.
Support the Independence Office Partners, directors and managers on various special projects on an as-needed basis
Assist in the review and development of the Associates within the team
REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirement:
BS/B.A. (MB.A. or CPA a plus)Essential Requirements:
4-7 years work experience; either Client Service or internal firm services (IFS) with a strong knowledge of the Advisory practice Ability to develop strong relationships and team with all levels of leadership and staff, both client service and IFS, influencing as required to accomplish objectives Ability to balance competing priorities and to handle multiple tasks Strong decision making, project management, problem resolution, presentation and communications skills. Highly motivated, with a strong attention to detail, and an interest in developing new skills. Desire to impact Firm and Line of Service initiatives from a risk and quality vantage point Well versed in Microsoft Applications Prior knowledge of SEC and AICPA Independence rules is a plus, but not essential.
