Job Description:
The key to appropriately managing a company's overall state and local tax cost is to align tax strategies with business initiatives and proceed with assisting the company with implementation. Ernst & Young's State & Local Tax Practice provides the knowledge, experience, resources, and processes to bridge the gap between what is expected of a company's tax department and its current capacity. In addition to having depth of technical knowledge and experience, our professionals are knowledgeable about the business challenges companies are facing and how those challenges affect a company's state and local tax position. Our national network of practitioners focuses on both direct and indirect state and local taxes by offering a broad array of services.We are currently seeking a Business Tax Credits Manager that is a seasoned tax consultant with some experience in securing, implementing and calculating federal and state tax credits, including some combination of research, negotiation, documentation, implementation and/or compliance. This position offers excellent opportunities for learning and career advancement to the right candidate.
ResponsibilitiesThis is a challenging and essential role with responsibility for project development, management, execution and results as well as primary contact for clients and public officials. Candidates should be able to demonstrate working knowledge of tax credits and incentives, excellent research and investigative skills, and the ability and capacity to interact with and obtain critical information from government officials and corporate executives.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge of and success implementing the following core competencies:
WOTC and Welfare-to-Work tax credits and related state tax credit programs Federal Empowerment Zone/Renewal Community and state Enterprise Zone tax credits, and similar tax credits for other targeted areas Investment tax credits Job tax credits Employee training tax creditsErnst & Young LLP, an equal opportunity employer, values the diversity of our work force and the knowledge of our people.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: To qualify, candidates must have: 3 to 5 years business experience, with a general focus on federal and state tax credits and/or incentives A Bachelor’s degree, preferably with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or a related field State and local taxation experience preferred Strong interest in federal and state tax credits Excellent supervisory, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills Ideal background would include increased responsibility at a location/incentives consulting firm or state and local tax consulting firm A CPA and/or an advanced degree in tax or law preferred
