Description:
Our client is a leading specialty contractor for communications companies, utilities and governments throughout North America. They design, build, install, maintain and upgrade infrastructure that is the backbone of the economy – telephone, high-speed Internet, electric, water, sewer and natural gas – as well as provides installation and maintenance services for satellite and cable television services.TAX MANAGER – SALES & USEPreparation of sales & use returns including research of jurisdiction specific issues. Manage all tax agency audits for these taxes.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Prepare our state and local sales and use tax returns.•Manage tax audits for relevant functional area including all correspondence with tax agencies, risk analysis write-ups for management and document gathering.
•Prepare reconciliations and analyses as they relate to “tax” accounts.
•Interact with general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing and other personnel to identify and resolve tax issues as they arise.
•Perform in-depth research on tax issues and document findings.
•Manage the tax processes within Oracle and Vertex in coordination with IT including modification based on changes in our business.
REQUIREMENTS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Accounting.•CPA Preferred.
•The required skills, knowledge and abilities are typically acquired through a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible tax experience.
•Experience in tax audits including management of multiple concurrent audits.
•Excellent oral and written communications skills.
•Strong analytical and problem solving ability.•Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft software applications such as Excel and Word.
•Oracle, Vertex and Quantum Returns experience highly desired.
•Decision Cast, Qwest - TOAD a plus
