Tax Manager
Purpose: The Tax & Treasury Services Manager's primary responsibilities are all areas of tax management and debt & cash management, analysis of corporate insurance, insurance claims management, law suit management, aid the VP & Treasury in insurance purchase decisions, and other functions as assigned by the Treasurer.
Essential Duties:
1.Review of all corporate tax returns (excluding payroll-related taxes), business licenses, and other information solicited by any governmental agency to insure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
2.Management of tax audits performed by governmental auditors.
3.Establishment of tax policy and procedures.
4.Daily cash management.
5.Accounting accruals for tax, insurance, interest expense, and debt.
6.Preparation of information necessary for corporate insurance coverage, such as but not limited to property values, payroll estimates, and other risk information.
7.Annual insurance audits, preparation and review.
8.Preparation on management reports in the areas of tax, debt, cash management, and insurance.
9.Support the annual audit by the company’s external auditors.
10.Preparation of footnote to the company’s annual financial statements in the areas of debt and tax.
11.Security administration for selected computer systems
12.Participate on cross functional teams as required.
Supervises:
Manages four employees, the Tax Accountant (exempt), Tax Accounting Clerk (non-exempt), and two Treasury Administrative Assistants (non-exempt) in the treasury department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problemsJob Requirements
Educational and Experience Requirements:
•BS or BA degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or other related field
•CPA required
•Minimum of 6 years experience in all area of tax including federal and multi-state income, sales & use, property, franchise and other
•Treasury and/or insurance experience helpful
•Supervisory experience
•PC experience including Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
•Experience with computer based tax return software and general ledger systems
•A strong team player and a self starter
•Ability to direct, motivate, and train staff
•Ability to build strong internal and external relationships
•Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral
