Our client has an opening for a Tax Accountant. The Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing compliance and defense of property, income, and sales taxes as well as their proper reflection in financial statements. This position assists with the compliance and defense of income taxes.
Primary Responsibilities in:
Tax Compliance and Reporting
* Ensures compliance with appropriate state, federal, and international tax jurisdictions (significant amount of sales tax compliance).
* Monitors and keeps abreast of developing and new tax legislation.
* Prepares or reviews tax filings for timely submission.
* Prepares work papers supporting the company's tax accounts and records in accordance with US GAAP and IRS Code.
* Participates in the selection and operation of tax software applications.
Tax Defense
* Prepares responses for management review in support of external tax audits.
* Recommends tax positions considering both defense and impact of the resolution.
* Maintains records necessary for defense of returns.
Tax Planning
* Identifies and recommends tax saving opportunities.
* Assists in the evaluation of risks inherent in the business environment.
* Assists in the evaluation of tax implications of transactions.
REQUIREMENTS
* Completion of an AAS or BS in Accounting
* Minimum 1+ year of multi-state business tax experience either in a corporation or public accounting firm
* Heavy experience of MS Excel and MS Word
