Staff / Senior Accountant

Classification: Full Time Compensation: $40000.00 to $55000.00 per year Summary: The Senior/Staff Accountant - SEC is primarily responsible for helping to coordinate SEC filings and other external regulatory reporting for the consolidated company and certain subsidiaries, as needed. Responsibilities include: preparing information requests for the functional units, coordinating with functional units in order to receive required information, analyzing and verifying the information received, researching accounting and SEC inquiries, and various special and other projects covering all aspects of financial accounting and reporting.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
•Prepares schedules for the consolidated company to facilitate filing of consolidated 10-Q and 10-K, including organizing and cross referencing schedules and supporting documentation.
•Collects and cross-references supporting documentation to prepare/review accounting schedules, documents, reports and/or journal entries.
•Analyzes variance analyses and communicates to various parties, primarily the Supervisor of Financial Reporting (if applicable), Manager of Financial Reporting and Director of Financial Reporting as well as to the functional units.
•Analyzes new accounting literature and new SEC guidance and helps to develop action plan for implementation.
•Assists in implementing Sarbanes-Oxley policies and controls.
•Serves as a resource for applying GAAP, providing position papers and support for interpretation.
•Interfaces in a variety of forums to obtain or to provide financial/accounting information.
•Coordinates information across multiple departments, builds effective business relationships with other departments, including functional units.
•Performs all aspects of work with a high degree of effectiveness, efficiency and accuracy. Exceeds customers' expectation.
•Stays abreast of industry and business issues and understands and applies this knowledge in current activities.
•Coordinates audit schedules on an as-needed basis for annual audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors.
Education:
Four-year college degree in accounting from an accredited college or university required. CPA with public accounting experience desired. Energy industry experience and knowledge of SAP and Hyperion Enterprise a plus, but not required.accounting/financial experience required.
Public accounting experience a plus.Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
