STAFF AUDITOR
JCPENNEY HOME OFFICE - PLANO, TEXASBASIC FUNCTION:Performs segments of audits for major Company activities and complete audits for less complex activities, as assigned, to support efforts to ensure that proper systems of control and/or appropriate corrective actions are established.JOB DESCRIPTION:1. Participates in or conducts audits:a) to determine that Company policies and procedures are followed, and that internal controls are sufficient for safeguarding assets;b) to confirm the existence of assets or liabilities represented by the records, and prepares the necessary work papers to support the audit work performed;c) to verify compliance with federal, state, and local laws governing all aspects of Company operations being audited;d) to determine that the cost of goods and services rendered is in accordance with contractual agreements;e) as requested by the external auditors;f) of a special or investigative nature, as assigned, involving suspected internal theft, record manipulation and reported unprofessional conduct of Company associates.2. Evaluates the use of Company resources through records review and observation.3. Prepares a draft audit report, including tests made, documentation of exceptions, and recommendations for improvement, and as appropriate, reviews with management.4. Prepares appraisals for individual auditors assigned to the project where they are Auditor-in-Charge.REQUIREMENTS:Education:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, with a major in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred. CPA, CIA and/or CISA certifications preferred.Experience:Strong, working knowledge of audit techniques and procedures.Core Competencies: Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral. Effective communication, analytical and persuasion skills essential.
