NATIONAL INTERSTATE wants you to add your vision and drive to our team! Due to a successful public offering last year and continuing product growth, we have expanded our Accounting/Regulatory/Tax functions. Currently seeking hands-on, proactive Accountants for our Richfield Corporate Office:
ACCOUNTANT I (SEC) -ENTRY LEVELSTAFF ACCOUNTANT-LIGHTLY EXPERIENCEDACCOUNTANT I (SEC)-ENTRY-LEVELAssist in preparation and coordination of all filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission through:
• Coordination of requests from external auditors• Assisting in preparation of monthly and quarterly financials and footnotes
• Research current accounting guidance and create accounting policies based on new guidance.• Responsible for account reconciliations as assigned.• Assisting in implementation of new systems.•Special projects as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
•Prior hands-on (internship) experience in accounting/finance required.•Insurance accounting experience helpful.•Ability to prioritize and meet quarterly and annual timing deadlines.STAFF ACCOUNTANT I-LIGHTLY EXPERIENCED
Responsible for handling general accounting duties, including recommendations for improvements through:•Monthly close on one or more subsidiary companies
•Assisting in monthly auditing and closing of premium registers•Assisting in analysis of premiums by product.•Assisting in preparation of monthly and quarterly financials and footnotes
•Responsible for expense analysis and evaluating invoices for expense deferrals.
•Maintaining fixed asset system for all subsidiary companies•Responsible for account reconciliations as assigned.•Responsible for accurate assignment and assessment accruals (insurance related) monthly.•Assisting in implementation of new systems.•Special projects as assigned by supervisorQUALIFICATIONS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
•1-2 years prior experience in accounting/finance preferred.•Insurance accounting experience preferred.•Ability to prioritize.
FURTHER QUALIFICATIONS FOR BOTH POSITIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.•CPA, and/or Master’s in Accounting/MBA preferred
•Thorough knowledge of foundational accounting principles
•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
•Strong communication and teaching skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to write monthly routine reports and general correspondence.
•Database, spreadsheet, and word processing knowledge required.•Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.•Systems implementation experience preferred.
