Position Objective:
Person will be a part of a team to accurately and timely file sales taxes returns for 31states. This will include research of tax updates and state sales tax audits.
Position Responsibilities:
Ensure accuracy of sales tax returns filed for 26 states (verify totals in Vertex with the general ledger in Wynne)
Co-ordinate sales tax audits (dates, follow-up, etc.). Provide necessary detail as required by auditor.
When required, research and file amended returns.
Maintain sales tax files for easy retrieval.
Analyze sales tax accounts in the general ledger and maintain spreadsheets.
Stay current on sales tax changes and make sure these changes are implemented.
Run Vertex reports for sales tax filings.
Prepare and maintain spreadsheets required for sales tax filings.
Respond to sales tax inquiries from both the field and the AP Dept.
Research sales tax questions and issues by means of the Internet or phone.
Write, enter and post correcting journals in the ledger as needed.
Perform other duties assigned as by the manager.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Requirements:
Minimum-High School diploma
Four-year accounting degree or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior sales tax experience
Years Experience:
Minimum 3 years of general accounting experience including journal entries
Other requirements:
Dependable, motivated, and self-starter
Customer service oriented
Ability to multi-task and be highly organized
Excellent Excel skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Word
Keen and strong attention to detail
