Currently, Marriott Vacation Club International is seeking a Staff Accountant, International Reporting and Tax for its corporate offices located in Lakeland, Florida.

Position Summary
The Staff Accountant works closely with the Senior Staff Accountant and the international sites to support MVCI international finance and tax operations. The Staff Accountant is responsible for the review and preparation of intercompany charges to MVCI International entities. The Staff Accountant oversees the payroll process for MVCI Puerto Rico and resolves any problems relating to payroll of this site. S/he creates journal entries for period close and reconciles accounts for CP-66 (Account reconciliation SOP). The Staff Accountant prepares budgets for international units and reviews period expenses. S/he also supports the Senior Accountant, Manager of IRT and accounting staff at international MVCI locations as needed.

Expected Contributions
-Reviews international charges and prepares invoices to MVCI?s foreign entities in accordance with MVCI?s International Billing Process. Works with international accounting staff to resolve any billing disputes.
-Prepares journal entries to record the proper intercompany receivable/ payable associated with the International billings.
-Updates international billing accounts as needed. Suggests improvements for international billing process. Responsible for reconciling international billing accounts and department each period.
-Responsible for payroll process of MVCI Puerto Rico. Reviews payroll weekly and coordinates processing with hotel and ADP. Verifies payroll and records journal entries for payroll and payroll taxes. Reviews accruals for payroll taxes and benefits and makes adjustments as needed. Resolves any problems with payroll or payroll taxes. Recommends improvements to process when possible and coordinates improvements with other departments. Reconciles and reviews all payroll balance sheet accounts for MVCI Puerto Rico.
-Coordinate / prepare and review Puerto Rico tax filings including Property tax return, Income tax return, payroll returns, and Business Volume return. Prepares information for E&Y to complete returns and reviews completed returns.
-Assists Senior staff accountant coordinate audit for MVCI Puerto Rico. Prepares audit schedules for E&Y and responds to audit questions and requests.
-Prepares budgets for MVCI Puerto Rico and MORI Chile. Prepares budget file for analysis and reviews proposed budgets compared to actual expenses. Prepares and reviews support for budget. Leads calls with business teams to review budgets.
-Creates and prepares account reconciliations in compliance with CP-66 for Puerto Rico, international billing, and Chile.
-Reviews and posts ledger for MORI Chile each period. Reviews expenses compared to budget, variance explanations and leads review meeting with business team.
-Reviews expenses each period for MVCI Puerto Rico. Reviews expenses compared to budget and prepares variance explanations and leads review meetings with business team.
-Reviews expenses compared to budget each period for U.S. department. Reviews support to ensure charges are valid.
-Prepares Aruba Central Bank Reports quarterly and submits payment for 1.3% tax. Coordinates and reviews payments with local DOFs.
-Prepares period close journal entries for foreign intercompany allocations.
-Additional projects as requested

REQUIREMENTS
-BA/ BS Degree in accounting or finance
-1-3 years of accounting / finance experience with exposure to international business preferred.
-Professional presentation skills, excellent verbal and communication skills
-Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
-Ability to work independently
