Job Type AccountingThe Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.This position is a career level professional account position and is responsible for the daily operation of functional accounting areas, such as the contracts, and general ledger functions of the Finance Directorate. The incumbent provides program and project support to the Accounting Manager; also provides advice and guidance to internal staff concerning IDA's accounting policies and practices. Responsibilities include various accounting or finance activities, such as: Prepares government contract billings in accordance to FAR and contract terms and guidelines; resolves issues; maintains appropriate files. Works with Corporate Cash Manager to resolve receivable issues Provide audit support in relation to contract billings, including unbilled. Reconcile billing system data to financial system data. Response to internal and external billing related inquiries. Analyzes and prepares account statements and audit lead schedules for the management review. Coordinates the contract cost transfers. Coordinate and support work in conjunction with audits.. Maintains a current working knowledge of accounting principles and practices and relevant government regulations; maintains a general familiarity with Federal and State tax laws as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

BS in Accounting or related area, with 24 credit hours of course work in Accounting; eligible to sit for the CPA exam. At least five or more years of progressively responsible work experience in accounting, finance, or government contracting. Some prior supervisory experience preferred. Computer literacy including familiarity with standard business office software such as Microsoft Office; experience using computerized accounting software. Experience with DELTEK software highly desirable. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of employees. Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.
