Staff Accountant II
Summary: Under minimal supervision and according to generally accepted accounting procedures, prepares standard and specialized financial reports (e.g. balance sheets, income statements) and performs moderate to complex financial analyses to summarize current and projected company financial position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following:
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.Performs monthly and annual closing tasks.Performs the monthly bank reconciliations.Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.Preparation of periodic financial closing journal entries.Participation in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance including documentation and testing.Interface with external auditors.Integration of domestic and international subsidiaries, including participation of the consolidation of operating results.Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation.Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.Other duties may be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Accounting from four-year accredited college/university; ANDThree to five (3-5) years related experience (preferably with public companies) is required.Excellent Microsoft Excel skills required.Oracle database skills is a plus.Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP is required.
