Staff Accountant I

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position audits reported revenue and cash transactions. Interaction may be required between the cashier’s office, the employee, human resources, and management if discrepancies are found. Performs assigned accounting functions requiring an in-depth knowledge of the structure of the company. Works under general supervision, but should be able to identify problems and formulate alternative solutions to these problems. Exercises independent judgment in carrying out duties.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS:

·Post daily revenue entry, after the day’s processes have been reviewed for accuracy.
·Investigate employee cash overages and shortages.
·Facilitate corrections when information hasn’t been entered properly.
·Record daily petty cash entry.
·Training backup for POS system.
·Month-end reconciling entries.
·Assist with inventory for month and quarter end process.
·Filing daily audit paperwork.
·Other projects as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

·Good communication, organization, and writings skills required.
·PC knowledge, including proficiency in Excel and Access preferred.
·Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
·10-key experience a plus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

·Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
·Minimum 2 years prior accounting experience.
·PC knowledge including spreadsheet and word processing software
·Excellent problem solving skills and multi-tasking abilities.
·Good organizational skills with attention to detail
·Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
·Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
·Carries out any reasonable request by management of which the employee is capable of performing.
