Staff
AccountantESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, performs general cost accounting, accounting records, and other related duties in daily administration of accounting department.
2.Maintains general ledger to include the preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, accounts analysis and reconciliation, closing books monthly, and setting up new accounts.
3.Performs bank reconciliation monthly, verifies all deposits, addresses questions and problems from banking institutions.
4.Prepare weekly, monthly and periodic sales & production reports.
5.File monthly sales and use tax returns
6.Prepare rolling 13 week cash flow report.
7.Prepares payroll and wage & salary accrual entries.
8.Monitors accounts receivables collection from individuals and/or institutions, interfaces with bank. Reconciles customer accounts. May also require booking of sales.
9.Maintains accounting records for fixed assets.
10.Assists outside auditors at year-end to include preparing schedules, invoices, providing explanation of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data.
11.Monitors accounts payable transactions ensuring expenditures are charged to appropriate accounts.
12.Annually, preparation of data requirements of Corporate Tax Department for the filing of Federal and State income taxes.
13.Maintains records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material. Updates records as necessary.
14.Recommends, designs, and implements any necessary department controls.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.May prepare monthly financial statements to include preparation of monthly balance sheet, income statement, report on changes in financial position/budget variances. May also prepare monthly inventory evaluations. Maintains related records.
2.May prepare reports as part of loan or debt covenant obligations.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
1.Equivalent to appropriate four-year college degree program.
2.(5) years' accounting experience plus knowledge of computerized accounting systems, strong Excel proficiency, ability to work with detail, and good organizational and communication skills.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Duties performed independently. Recommends, designs, and implements controls based on department objectives. Consults with supervisor regarding major policy decisions, major expenditures, and unusual problems.
