Sr State Income Tax Analyst

THIS POSITION IS BASED IN FLORHAM PARK BUT WILL REQUIRE FREQUENT TRAVEL ON A TEMPORARY BASIS TO ISELIN, NJ.



Ensure the timely and accurate preparation, filing & payment of all state and local income & franchise returns, which represent tax in excess of $40 million annually, and analysis of tax accounting for state income taxes. Performs income & franchise tax audits. Performs research on various tax issues and implements results, manages the accounting for income tax function, provides analysis and research with legal entity scenarios and various other duties required to support the function, for BASF & subsidiaries, the "company". The individual in this function will be provided opportunities to work cross-functionally in other areas of state taxation including state & local property taxes, federal excise taxes, VAT recovery, business licenses, environmental taxes, etc.
REQUIREMENTS


Bachelors degree in Accounting required with an advanced degree (M.B.A or M.S. Taxation) or Certification (C.P.A.) desired.

Requires a minimum of ten (10) years experience in the tax/accounting field, with at least (5) years in the state income tax area.



Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with internal staff and taxing authorities.



  Must have a thorough working knowledge of personal computers and their application, including downloading information from mainframe computer to PC and complete familiarity with spreadsheet and database software. Experience with Tax software (Corptax) a definite plus. Experience with mechanized compliance products required.



Must have the ability to analyze and evaluate processes and, where applicable, implement changes as they relates to the compliance, audit, training and tax advisory functions.
