Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant - Finance

Responsibilities:
The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing GAAP and statutory financial statements and supporting workpapers, preparing financial statement analysis and supporting ad hoc projects. Prepare and review financial statements for management and external reporting within the month end close schedule Prepare assigned journal entries in an accurate and timely manner Identify and properly account for new transactions Provide meaningful analysis of financial statement variances compared to prior periods Quickly identify and resolve identified variances between the supporting documents and reporting ledgers Prepare and review audited financial statement according to regulatory requirements Prepare account reconciliations in accordance with company policy Interface with external auditors and business units throughout the company Participate in special projects that ensure financial accounting, regulatory reporting, and company wide reporting issues are properly identified and addressed in a timely manner Create and maintain adequate and appropriate procedural documentation, while maintaining and improving financial accounting processes
REQUIREMENTS
BA/BS in Accounting required, CPA or CMA strongly preferred A minimum of five years experience in a large company environment is required, public accounting experience preferred Life insurance accounting experience preferred Understanding of GAAP reporting requirements Ability to research accounting issues independently and communicate conclusions effectively in both oral and written means Strong analytical, organization, communication and technical skills Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks Ability to understand accounting issues and practices throughout the company and across departments ~cb~
