Sr. Compliance Specialist

Primary functions are to: perform ongoing compliance monitoring reviews of the Bank’s retail branch network and departments/functions; review Bank advertisements for compliance with regulatory requirements; conduct regulatory research; and assist in administering compliance training. Secondary job functions may include, on an as-needed basis under the direct supervision and direction of the Compliance Officer, assisting in the development of policies and procedures, and working with various business lines in the development of new deposit and/or loan products.



Candidate will perform regular reviews of Bank disclosures, forms, policies procedures and processes to assist management in provide reasonable assurance that the bank is in substantial compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Candidate will identify any weaknesses in the Bank’s overall compliance management system and will make recommendations to enhance or facilitate its compliance posture.



Candidate will need to effectively communicate orally and in writing, prepare workpapers to document reviews, and work well with others both inside and outside the department
REQUIREMENTS
Required Experience:



Minimum of 3-5 yrs. of previous compliance management or compliance audit experience at a financial institution OR banking compliance experience at a federal or state regulatory agency.


Associate / Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Equivalent work experience considered.


Special Skills:



Candidates must possess the following skills:



In-depth knowledge of the federal consumer compliance laws and regulations.
Knowledge of New York State banking laws and regulations is a plus.
Ability to understand and interpret all pertinent laws and regulations relative to the Bank’s products services and operations.
Strong analytical capability and verbal / writing skills.
Ability to recommend operational improvements to management.
PC experience required (Word, Excel, etc.).
Ability to work both independently and in a team oriented environment.
Experience in supervising and providing direction to junior staff.
