Responsible for federal tax planning and research on transactions that impact Capital One and its effective tax rate

Advise Treasury, Finance, and Legal departments of federal tax implications on implementation of corporate planning strategies

Work with Treasury Department to plan and execute capital structure decisions.

Identify tax planning strategies to lower the effective tax rate

Identify emerging federal tax issues and potential impact to Capital One

Provide tax information and respond to questions generated from internal Capital One departments

Manage tax planning projects and staff resources in order to achieve targeted goals

Report to Senior Director of Tax Planning and Business Consultancy
REQUIREMENTS
Required

BS in Accounting or JD

4-10 years corporate tax experience in a CPA firm and/or major corporation

Strong analytical skills (experience garnered in an accounting, planning or forecasting role)

The ability to work independently, develop new ideas, create flexibility and take ownership of responsibilities are some of the qualities expected in candidates for this position

Excellent communication, research, and writing skills

Flexibility with respect to occasional day travel to Richmond, VA and other company sites as needed.



Preferred

A CPA or MS in Tax

Experience in federal taxation of Financial Institutions and federal taxation of Financial Products and Derivatives
