Senior Staff Accountant (Servicing)

NOVASTAR MORTGAGE, a leader in the mortgage industry, is looking for a talented individual to join our Accounting team within the Servicing Division of NovaStar Mortgage, Inc. This ever-growing division services NovaStar's already 10 billion loan portfolio!





We are currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Senior Staff Accountant. In this position you will be required to Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.



Additional responsibilities will include:


Assist with the conversion of programs used to post daily servicing entries.


Assist with perfecting interest accrual calculations using current system reports. Work with internal department(s) to re-create formulas and ensure optimum efficiencies.


Perform various general ledger account reconciliations on a daily/monthly basis. Ensure follow-up on reconciling items and timely resolution.


Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.


REQUIREMENTS
Travel Percentage: 0%Qualified candidates must have the following:


A minimum of 3 years experience in Accounting. Mortgage banking industry is preferred


Analytical skills, including research skills, ability to interpret data, conceptualize, and analyze information.


Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel.


Must have basic mathematical and accounting skills, and must have attention to detail.


Interpersonal skills, including verbal communication and listening.


Bachelor's degree in the following field(s) of study: accounting, finance or economics is required.
