Senior STAAT Accountant

United National Group is a growing, A rated commercial property/casualty insurance company headquartered in Bala Cynwyd, PA. We currently have an opening for a senior staff accountant in our financial accounting department.
Job Responsibilities include:
•General accounting duties including the preparation and posting of journal entries, and general ledger uploads.
•Responsible for timely and accurate account analyses and reconciliations, including reconciliations of the general ledger to operating systems and bank reconciliations. Reconciliation of additional general ledger accounts as assigned on a monthly basis.
•Development, maintenance and balancing of interfaces and uploads between operating systems, general ledger and financial reporting software.
•Design and development of financial reports using report writing software.
•Compilation and analyses of direct, assumed and ceded premiums, losses and commissions for the seven insurance companies which compose the United America Insurance Group.
•Preparation of monthly reinsurance entries associated with intercompany reinsurance agreements
•Preparation and posting quarterly profit sharing calculations between the group of statutory insurance companies based on an intercompany pooling agreements.
•Assisting in the compilation of divisional GAAP and legal entity statutory financial statements for the seven insurance companies which compose the United America Insurance Group.
•Assist with maintenance of general ledger account code additions, changes and associated report mapping.•Maintenance documentation of internal control procedures in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.•Provide supporting workpapers in response to audit, regulatory and internal management requirements.Job Requirements
Requirements:
•Accounting degree.
•Five plus years of general accounting and/or reporting experience, Consolidating Financial Reporting a plus.
•Financial Statement Preparation and Review
•Proficient in Microsoft suite of products•Knowledge of Crystal reports or Biznet report writers is beneficial.
•Strong interpersonal, analytical, project and technical skills.
•Excellent communication, time management and problem solving skills.
•Strong motivation and willing to take on new responsibilities.
•Available and willing to work additional hours (after hours and weekends) to meet scheduled deadlines.
•Property and Casualty insurance experience or STAT and exposure to reinsurance is a plus.
•Working knowledge of Sunguard’s EAS General Ledger or Booke’s (TCP) annual statement software is beneficial.Attributes for Success:
