Senior Project & Reserves Analyst

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
This is a high visibility position that requires knowledge and application of GAAP and company policy as well as coordination with Technical Accounting, KPMG, Internal Audit, Accounting Centers, Business Lines, Plants, and other operating groups. Primary responsibilities are Appropriation Request (AR) analysis and global coordination of Asset Retirement Obligations (AROs) and Environmental Remediation liabilities.
AR Analysis
•Analyze, review, and determine the accounting treatment for all ARs in accordance with GAAP and Company policy.•Review all Appropriation Requests for AROs, related capitalized interest, and associated fixed assets to be retired.
Global ARO and Environmental Remediation
•Coordinates the global accounting and analyzes financial impact of AROs (FAS 143) and Environmental Remediation reserves (SoP 96-1). Works with Corporate Accounting, Business Controllers, and Global Remediation Project Managers to ensure that the accounting rules are correctly applied and that updates are communicated timely..
•Participates as the Finance team member in global reviews of the asset retirements and dispositions for possible legal and environmental obligations, and determines whether asset retirements require reserves for decommissioning, decontamination, dismantling, demolition, disposal, environmental closure/monitoring and/or remediation.•Analyze, reconcile, and report quarterly revised estimates for AROs and Environmental Liabilities and coordinate any necessary reserve adjustments.
Other
•Participates in continuous process improvement or cost reduction activities.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
1)A thorough understanding of the project accounting process and procedures in a manufacturing environment preferred.
2)SAP Project Systems experience preferred but not required.
3)Strong knowledge of GAAP and ability to read, interpret, and apply GAAP pronouncements.
4)Presentation & communication skills.
5)Strong computer software skills including Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft office programs.About Celanese
