Senior Program Manager, Project Development & Finance

The Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) is a national, nonprofit organization that helps communities create permanent housing with services to prevent and end homelessness. CSH advances its mission by providing high-quality advice and development expertise, by making loans and grants to supportive housing sponsors, by strengthening the supportive housing industry, and by reforming public policy to make it easier to create and operate supportive housing. CSH delivers its core services primarily through eight geographic hubs: California, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Southern New England (Connecticut, Rhode Island). CSH also operates targeted initiatives in Kentucky, Maine, Oregon, and Washington, and provides limited assistance to many other communities.
The Position:
The Corporation for Supportive Housing is seeking a creative, goal-oriented individual for a Senior Program Manager position in its Project Development and Finance Unit. Under the direction of the Director, Project Development and Finance, the Senior Program Manager will originate predevelopment and acquisition loans to support CSH’s Los Angeles program. In this role, the Senior Program Manager will work directly with CSH staff in the Los Angeles Hub office, as well as nonprofit sponsors of supportive housing projects.
Responsibilities:
•Support the administration of CSH’s loan programs, including assisting with securing additional loan funds to expand the program. Create and maintain relationships with funders, financial institutions and other external partners.
•Market CSH’s acquisition and predevelopment loan program to supportive housing providers in Los Angeles County.
•Identify lending opportunities that further CSH’s local program goals toward creating supportive housing in Los Angeles.
•Originate loans and conduct necessary due diligence of project and development team. Review and evaluate development, operating and services plans for projects as part of the CSH underwriting process.
•Prepare CSH’s loan recommendation memo and present it to internal and board project review committees.
•Work with other CSH staff and CSH legal counsel to close and disburse loans.
•Support policy and fundraising efforts as they relate to CSH’s lending activities.
•In coordination with the Director and Associate Director, develop training materials and curricula for use in training/technical assistance. Conduct trainings and workshops.
•Support CSH’s effort to increase the skills and capacity of CSH staff to provide technical assistance and consulting services related to supportive housing development and finance.
• Perform any other organization related duty or special project as assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS
•Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degree a plus. Equivalent experience may substitute for education.
•Minimum of six years of experience lending to low income/supportive housing sponsors. Additional education and/or housing project management experience may substitute for some lending experience.
•Knowledge of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program and other affordable and supportive housing financing programs.
•Excellent computer skills including extensive knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Demonstrated skills at building high quality teams; building trusted relationships among staff and partners; setting and managing performance expectations; and a proven ability to train and coach staff and external audiences/partners in the areas of real estate development and housing finance issues.
•Demonstrated experience at managing multiple assignments effectively.
•Candidates must be able to take initiative and pursue program goals with minimal supervision.
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government agencies and community-based organizations.
•Occasional travel required.
