Position Summary
As a member of the CFO's organization, the candidate will be responsible for continuing to improve financial analyses of the company. This individual will be a strategic partner and change agent. Performs as key liaison among senior and executive management personnel. At senior levels, participates with other senior Finance management staff to identify growth opportunities and investments and potential company issues, and set priorities / direction of Finance initiatives that link to business objectives including overall company revenue and EPS growth. The position will be located in the San Rafael Corporate headquarters and will report to the Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis.
Responsibilities
Continued evolvement of the corporate financial analysis functions.
Interaction with various corporate groups (External Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Consolidations, Investor Relations, M&A etc.) to ensure accuracy and relevancy of consolidated results and related analysis.
Partner with Executive Management and Business Finance Partners to prepare various analyses and presentations for use at all levels of the Corporation.
Participation and consultation across multiple reporting processes Earnings Release, External Reporting (10Q/10K), and internal reporting to senior management.
Assist in preparing written commentary for Executive Management of quarterly operating results.
Influence decisions, drive processes and obtain results in an efficient, collaborative manner.
Analysis and preparation of financial commentary on consolidated results as well as other Corporate P&L items including corporate overhead, interest expense, minority interest, other income, taxes and EPS. Liaison with various departments involved in these functions including Tax, Treasury and Corporate Accounting.
Provide critical financial analyses for revenue and worldwide spending, including existing spending and the investment of any new spending. Work with business groups to perform various analyses such as revenue analysis, unit analysis, headcount analysis and operating expense analysis.
Identify and ensure cost reduction opportunities on a global basis; monitor effectiveness of Finance policies, practices and processes to determine efficiency and effectiveness. Recommend improvements to achieve and deliver improved results.
Provide financial advisory and decision support services to Divisions and Corporate Executives in the analysis of potential strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and mergers, including the financial due diligence and subsequent integration support.
Critical review, analysis and consolidation of division submissions for annual budgets and quarterly forecasts as well as monthly operating results.
Work on special projects, which may include ad-hoc analyses, leading meetings or discussions, and ensuring project activities are managed through completion.
Participate in annual planning cycle and long term planning process. Analyze planned data (budget, outlook, and forecast) in comparing against actual results.
Requirements
BS/BA in accounting, finance, or related field
MBA required
10+ years of progressive finance experience; mid-to-large public company, preferable with international experience
Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The ability to learn the business, understand key drivers for growth, and the ability to spot trends and establish momentum to address
Must be articulate and concise
Excellent experience with management reporting, consolidations for both international and domestic entities, and analysis at the corporate level
A deep understanding of GAAP, large-scale capital budgeting, forecasting, planning, business plan evaluation, financial analysis, modeling, and spreadsheets (outstanding Excel and PowerPoint skills)
Experience with acquisition/expansion or closure valuations and other key financial projects supporting executive senior management
Highly developed analytical skills and effective use of information and reporting systems
Demonstrated strengths in leadership, reporting, and communication skills
Strong process management skills, with the ability to define process and results metrics, implement continuous process improvement techniques, and manage a complex process that crosses several functional organizations.
Systems experience preferred: SAP, Hyperion Enterprise and Pillar, Business Objects, TM1
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
Candidate must be "hands-on" and still be able to see the "big picture"
