Senior GL Accountant

Purpose:
Our client, a leading technology firm, is searching for a Senior GL Accountant for their Herndon, VA location.

On a day to day basis, this individual will be responsible for the following:

*Performs various general ledger close activities.
*Performs general ledger account reconciliation.
*Will temporarily assist the AR team and Accounting team with transition activities related to the pending acquisition of another Company.
*Fields internal questions from management on month end results.
*Assists the Controller with external Management reporting.
*Assists the Controller with Annual audits and special projects.
*Will work closely with the Controller to identify and implement process improvements.
*Will work extensively with excel based accounting models (i.e. SAB101 & Sales Type leases)

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and must have a minimum of 3 years accounting experience. Candidate must also have:

*Strong analytical skills
*Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills required (Advanced skills a plus and experience with Microsoft Access a plus)
*Strong organizational skills- Need to be able to handle multiple tasks under deadlines.
*Must be able to communicate with all levels within the company.
*Must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
*Must have the ability to work independently.
