JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:Senior Financial Analyst

Reports To: Director of Financial Planning & Analysis

Basic Purpose:

The Sr. Financial Analyst will be the central point of contact on all financial matters for the designated business units and departments that they support. The analyst is expected to obtain a thorough understanding of all business units and departments supported from top line revenue down to net income. They will be considered a financial partner to the business units and departments supported by them. This position will additionally be responsible for providing ad hoc analysis to senior management.

Organizational Relationship:

The Sr. Financial Analyst reports to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. This position requires extensive communication and collaboration with members of the business units that they support. This individual is also required to work well with executives and cross-functionally.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1)Partner with business units supported in budgeting and forecasting of their business from top line key performance metrics to operating expenses.
2)Review period end actual results and explain any fluctuation of actuals from budget and forecasted expectations.
3)Provide guidance and insight on all financial aspects of business units supported, including financial terms within vendor contracts.
4)Attend staff meetings of all areas supported.
5)Provide ad hoc financial analysis as needed by senior management.
6)Partner with business units to effectively analyze and price travel programs.
7)Understand the allocation of all shared service and marketing costs to business units supported to analyze and explain the fully burdened bottom line contribution of the business unit to the organization as a whole.
8)Review and analysis of business development opportunities and strategic investments.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

1)Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting strongly preferred.
2)Five to seven years of financial analysis and/or accounting experience.
3)Must pay close attention to detail while maintaining ability to see the larger picture.
4)Ability to handle confidential information.
5)Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
6)Demonstrated analytical ability.
7)Cognos system experience preferred.

Environmental Factors:

Work is performed in a well-lighted private work area with all equipment for essential job functions at hand. Incumbent is seated most of the day and performs duties requiring close attention to detail. Work deadlines and interruptions are common.
