Senior - Engineer Planning & Design

Responsible for design coordination and construction management of replacement and relocation projects from project inception to final closeout, including construction support as needed. Interfaces with designers, construction crews and inspectors to ensure that replacement work meets DOT code requirements, Company Engineering and Operating Standards and is performed in a safe, cost-effective manner. Implement/investigate use of alternate construction equipment, materials and methods for pipeline rehabilitation projects, including making contractor capability recommendations. Utilizes computer modeling tools such as a Geographical Information System and a pipeline risk analysis program to establish the scope of natural gas distribution piping replacement projects. Serve as a point of contact relative to jurisdictional agency and customer relocation needs. Develops detailed work scopes and specifications for construction bid packages. Assists construction department on an as-needed basis to provide engineering analysis to field construction area during installation. Assists in budget preparation, project monitoring and cost reconciliation of maintanence and capital replacement projects. Responsibility for review and recommendations to project authorization requirements up to and including review of final construction job jacket. Utilizes various PC based software including Smallworld Queries to produce maps and reports to support piping system replacements and relocations. Review preliminary construction drawings and approve final construction drawings. Provide Professional Engineer seal to drawings as required by jurisdictions. Assist with the review and approval of sequence of operations. Coordinate and communicate all aspects of Transmission AOP-30 Series projects with Corporate Engineering.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires: B.S. Degree in Engineering (Civil or Mechanical preferred).Six years experience in the natural gas or related industry.Professional Engineer certification or equivalent work experience required. Expert knowledge of Construction practices, procedures, applicable and applicable codes and standards. A working knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a general knowledge of principles and practices of related specialties Ability to structure mutually agreeable contracts and working arrangements with business partners. Ability to analyze data and to identify relevant issues in solving specific problems. Ability to train Level I, II, III & IV Engineer. Ability to proficiently operate computer software and hardware for data manipulation, analysis, and presentation purposes. Ability to analyze and solve business problems. Ability to write and present diverse ideas in a logical and concise manner.
