Senior Credit Officer
The primary purpose of this position is to complete credit processing and underwriting for loans within their delegated authority greater than $100,000 resulting from ProPartners Financial programs to ensure a sound and profitable portfolio. Incumbent focuses on loans >$250,000 however will provide assistance on processing loans greater than $100,000 when necessary.
The incumbent gathers or supervises information gathering per program guidelines. Credit is underwritten consistent with established standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines established and the incumbent has latitude to require credit enhancements or supplemental information in situations warranted.
The incumbent evaluates applications received applying a risk based analysis process utilizing information extracted from the credit desk, credit references, financial statements and other relevant information either provided or requested. Said evaluation is the basis for terms and conditions of underwriting (also desk denials) tendered to program cooperatives and distributorships, and is documented as necessary in the credit file to adequately support the credit decision made, including the level of recourse required. The incumbent responds to loan requests within the allotted timeframes based upon individual loan size.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree in agribusiness, business administration, or a related fieldMinimum of 6 to 8 years of larger, more complex credit related experience, or equivalentstrong knowledge and prudent, risk based use of agricultural credit policies and procedures to ensure acceptable credit administration and efficient servicing of loans secured primarily with crops, crop inputs, crop insurance and proceeds thereofThorough knowledge and understanding of program features and objectives, and utilize analytical and problem solving skills in a volume production environmentRequires ability to work independently without close supervision to reach difficult decisionsRequires demonstrated ability to effectively and tactfully communicate using telephone, facsimile and e-mailRequires ability to handle sensitive situations in a professional mannerMust possess a working knowledge of multi-state lending, score card/credit desk process and theory, Microsoft Excel, Word and Access, and production and marketing practices of crops produced within the program’s territory
