Reznick Group, one of the nation's fastest growing public accounting and business advisory services firms, is seeking a State & Local Tax (SALT) Sr. Associate to join their Tax Consulting practice in Bethesda, MD. The State and Local Tax (SALT) Senior Associate will work on a national team, and may report to and receive instruction from Managers and/or Principals of the Firm throughout the country. The SALT Senior Associate is responsible for the delivery of state and local tax services for multiple clients in a wide variety of industries. Responsibilities include interacting closely with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise; working closely with partners and managers on practice development and business development activities; formulating and presenting innovative tax planning and tax savings strategies; and supervising staff. Specifically, the primary responsibilities of the SALT Senior Associate are focused in the following 5 areas:

Specifically in the areas of Tax Consulting, Research and Compliance, the SALT Senior Associate will:



Deliver a full range of multi-state and local tax consulting services, addressing various issues in the area of income, franchise, sales and use, capital stock and license, gross receipts, property and employment taxes.
Identify opportunities to minimize clients' multi-state tax burden through optimal filing methods, exemptions, credits/incentives, structuring alternatives, etc.
Analysis and modeling of structuring alternatives.
Provide state and local audit defense assistance to clients.
Research complex state and local tax issues using state statutes, regulations, case law and other relevant authorities/guidance.
Research state tax filing requirements that affect tax compliance.
Provide technical assistance to the tax compliance function in order to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Draft tax technical memorandums, client correspondence and other various work products. REQUIREMENTS
Travel Percentage: 10%
Essential Experience (special skills and experience, licenses, certifications, and education)

Education/Certifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting; CPA or JD; Masters in Taxation or LLM in Taxation a plus.
Minimum of 2 years of progressive State and Local Tax consulting and/or compliance experience in public accounting or a combination of corporate and public accounting experience.
Broad exposure to State and Local Taxes including knowledge in Sales and Use Tax, and Property Tax
Desire to work on a variety of SALT issues as opposed to being limited to one particular area.
Strong tax research and writing skills
Proven competence with MS Office and tax research software
Solid organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task
