Senior Accountant - Compliance

NPR's Accounting department provides for financial transaction processing and reporting for NPR and the NPR Foundation.

We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant in our Compliance area to perform investment accounting for NPR and NPR Foundation. Position will also stay abreast of changing Accounting and Tax requirements; researche, design and implement compliance procedures for any new accounting requirements and/or tax legislation to ensure a sound internal control and compliance-reporting environment; lead and implement Accounting department projects; and write Compliance policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (CPA preferred). Candidates should have a minimum of three to five years professional accounting experience including two years tax experience; public accounting experience preferred; thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), tax laws, rules and regulations as well as the ability to research, apply and adapt established principles to financial and tax reporting required. Candidates should have experience writing compelling and concise business justifications and documentation; proficiency using sophisticated Accounting systems, Microsoft Office software, in particular Excel and Word; and general working knowledge of pertinent research facilities. Must be able to handle multiple assignments effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; display self-confidence, knowledge and be a quick study possessing a creative mind, a critical perspective and an ability to make decisions and take action; Candidates should also demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work effectively as a member of a team of diverse individuals; and possess good problem solving skills and be able to craft and analyze options and make specific recommendations that enhance the company’s overall objectives and goals.
