Accounting Manager

SUMMARY - Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all formal accounting of the Travel Plaza Complex, to include Fuel/C-Store, Restaurant, J-Care and other entities as applicable. The Accounting Manager reports to the General Manager, with ancillary reporting to the District Accounting Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitors and Point of Sale cash collection to ensure that Flying J excellence in service is met.

Trains and supervises accounting and operations employees.

Responsible for all employment related issues involving the accounting staff including, but not limited to: interviewing, hiring/firing, preparing work schedule, promotion/demotion, discipline, employee relations, investigations, etc.

Must have full understanding of operating budgets and be able to operate within set guidelines. Ensures adherence to company accounting procedures.

Resolves audit issues.

Must be knowledgeable and proficient on the P.O.S. system and the many different credit and cash cards used as specified in the fuel desk manual. Must be knowledgeable in all forms of transaction and sales taking place in the Fuel/C-Store operation.

Must have knowledge of P&L, General Ledger and Labor Matrix.Job Requirements

Accounting Manager:
Some college education and a minimum of 2 years management, retail experience preferred.
Must be willing to relocate.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees and staff of the Plaza, District and Corporate office.
Ability to read and write English.
Ability to read and follow procedures, safety guidelines etc.

First Aid Trained Specialist (FATS), Certification preferred.

Must be able to work around diesel, gasoline and propane fuels.

Must have people skills, the ability to learn quickly, and the ability to lead people.
