RN-Charge Audit Nurse

Shft: DaysJob Description:Would consider applicants interested in part time hours. Position will work at Mercy Hospital Campus.*
Maintain an effective system, which involves the selection of accounts for pre charge audits and post payment reviews. Follows charge audits criteria, which are used consistently by all auditors at all, sites including rules for external auditors to follow. Works closely with each medical record department to obtain records used in the audit process. Schedule external auditors on a timely basis in order to expedite settlement of accounts, collect appropriate percentage of payment before scheduling the audit when possible. Monitor the work of external auditors to ensure compliance with Alegent Health protocols for audits, conduct exit conferences, sign off agreed upon results, and defer on questionable items until resolved. Identify department problem areas related to charge capture and documentation, then provide education and work with the departments at the appropriate campus to find solutions.Experience: Some accounting experience or knowledge to supplement medical experience.Education/Licensure: Licensed in Nebraska or Iowa as a Registered Nurse, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states so must be licensed in the state of your residence. Must have one (1) year of hospital floor nursing experience.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must possess a strong knowledge of hospital medical procedures with some understanding of hospital receivables. Have knowledge of applicable laws, operational and policy guidelines and professional standards. Some understanding of physician and other general health care operations; good computer understanding and skills; excellent communication skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high-level commitment, motivation and energy; team orientation; professionalism; trust; personal honesty and integrity; and a demonstration of placing others in a place of high value and treating them with dignity and respect.
