Purchasing Assistant

Assist Purchasing manager with ordering components and maintaining records andpurchase orders needed for production by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may beassigned to meet business needs. Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager: Enter company purchase orders into PeachTree.
Review requisitions and confer with vendors to obtain product such asprice, availability, and delivery schedule.
Prepare purchase orders contacts vendors to find out status of an order. Contact vendors with discrepancies with quantity and quality.
Interface with all departments and resolves problems and issues withpurchased items.
Copies data and compiles records and reports.
Operates computer terminal to input and retrieve data.
Calling, faxing or mailing to vendors of all new purchase orders.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEOne to three years experience in a purchasing environment and knowledge ofPeachTree.QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able toperform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below arerepresentative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonableaccommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform theessential functions.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating andmaintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, when necessary.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using wholenumbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished inwritten, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concretevariables in standardized situations.
Must have good phone skills and interact well with others.Job Requirements
