Property Accountant

Highland Hospitality is seeking to hire a property accountant to join a growing, lodging real estate investment trust, or REIT, located in McLean, Virginia. Highland Hospitality began operations in December 2003 when it completed an initial public offering and acquired its first three hotel properties. The Company currently owns 26 hotel properties ($1.3 billion of assets) in 13 states, the District of Columbia and Mexico.

This position will be responsible for various aspects of hotel-level accounting, including consolidating and reviewing monthly operating results, tracking and analyzing capital expenditures, and reconciling reserve funds. This position will also be responsible for assisting with corporate-level accounting, including processing accounts payable, reconciling certain balance sheet accounts, assisting other finance and accounting employees on various special projects, and ensuring Highland Hospitality continues to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. The property accountant will report directly to the senior accountant.
REQUIREMENTS
The property accountant position requires an undergraduate degree in accounting with 2+ years of accounting experience (public accounting experience a plus). This position will require someone with initiative, who can work well under pressure, has the ability to multi-task, and can promote a team environment.
