Overview:
The Practice Director - Tax Group for Adams Harris is a critical member of our office's management team. The Director is expected to have significant influence upon the success of each engagement to which they are assigned and, as a result, will be critical to the overall success of their office. The remainder of their time will be spent in support of business development and other operational activities. The ability to effectively multi-task will be essential for this position. REQUIREMENTS
Recommended Qualifications:
Minimum of 8 years of public accounting and/or relevant industry experience.
Bachelor of Science in Accounting or related field.
One of the following credentials is required: MST, CPA, J.D. Tax.
Big 4/Public Tax experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Director include, but are not limited to, the following:
Client Service
Perform, lead and/or manage client engagements. The amount of time spent performing engagements verses engagements management will be dependent upon when an office was opened and the circumstances surrounding our client's needs.
Work with the Sales Directors or client to find out the client's requirements for engagements.
Select and introduce potential consultants to clients via internally-created professional profiles and personal introductions.
Schedule and monitor consultants to ensure compliance with client's attendance requirements and expectations.
Ensure work papers and reports are controlled, incompliance with Adams Harris' professional standards, and delivered timely to both Adams Harris Management and the client.
Engagement management for assigned projects, including, but not limited to, the following:
i) Interface with both the client and on-site Adams Harris consultants.
ii) Ensure that there are no barriers to the successful completion of the engagement.
iii) Effectively report any potential issues immediately to the applicable Sales Director and/or the Managing Director. Also, prompt reporting of such issues at the weekly office team meetings.
Technical resource for both the client as well as other Adams Harris consultants.
Business Development Efforts:
Regularly participate in networking and marketing activities that promote the firm.
Participate, when required, on sales calls with other Directors and/or the Managing Director.
Active involvement in new business development efforts, which includes cross-selling at exiting clients and developing new relationships.
Assist in scoping and generating proposals.
Responsible for developing creative solutions to clients' or prospects' issues/challenges.
Actively participate in at least one professional organization.
Operations:
Interview new consultants found by the Director/Manager, Recruiting.
It is the responsibility of the Director to communicate and work with the Director/Manager, Recruiting to have sufficient staff on hand to meet the current and anticipated future needs of the practice area. It is critical that they keep the pipeline full of potential recruits and conduct regular staff interviews. All Practice Directors are expected to exploit all internal and external resources available to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained at all times.
Participate in the weekly management meetings and effectively advise on the proper staffing of engagements.
All other duties as assigned by the Managing Director.
Expectations:
The Director is expected to have strong interpersonal communications skills, and have the ability to build relationships with our clients, their consultants and all other employees. Directors are regularly expected to work 40+ hours per week. Directors are also expected to have a high amount of positive energy and be willing to lead by example. This individual should have the ability to travel to client sites, they are expected to be billable, mostly as an engagement manager or lead person, for approximately two-thirds of their time. An Adams Harris Director is a leader within their office and is expected to properly and professionally represent Adams Harris, both internally to our employees as well as externally to our clients, with a passion for client service, a strong work ethic, while maintaining a high level of integrity and a positive attitude.
