Portfolio Accountant/Investment Accountant

Wells Capital Management is looking for a portfolio/investment accountant to join our growing reconciliation team. Performs complex accounting activities related to the maintenance of separately managed client accounts and mutual funds. Knowledge of equity and fixed income securities and fund accounting background is essential. Responsibilities includes the following: preparing and reviewing daily, weekly and monthly separate account and mutual fund reconciliations, making entries into the accounting system, gathering, reviewing and preparing data for financial and regulatory reports and audits. Set up new accounts on accounting system and funding in of assets. Establishes regular communication with custodian contacts, investment team contacts, and relationship managers to build sound working relationships. Able to apply the team background knowledge and technical knowledge to improve our processes and our systems. Identify opportunities for automation, research and develop a plan to implement the necessary automation. Work with team manager to assist in the review process of our daily entries into the accounting system and daily/weekly/monthly reconciliations. Able to back up other team members in their account duties.
Minimum Qualifications


* Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and/or equivalent work experience

1-3 years experience in portfolio, investment or fund accounting preferred.
* Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with Bloomberg, Advent/PAM/IDS accounting software and/or SEI Trust is preferred

Familiarity with FMC auto reconciliation tools and omego/swift messages recommended

Strong fixed-income knowledge

Knowledge of accounting for MBS, ABS, CMO and derivatives

Knowledge of performance calculation recommended

Must be able to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment

Able to work independently and mutli-task

Good analytical and communication skills are necessary as well
