Plant Accountant

Classification: Full Time Compensation: $35000 to $55000 per year Local Manufacturing company is seeking a plant accountant for their Exton area plant. Under the direction of the Plant Controller, is responsible for carrying-out various plant accounting activities to include job cost analysis, manufacturing variance analysis and inventory controls in accordance with established accounting principles and procedures. Performs a significant role in month-end accounting closes to include the preparation and analysis of month-end financial reports.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
1.Assists Plant Controller in performing month-end accounting close to include closing jobs and preparing accurate journal entries, coordinating with plant operations staff and Corporate Accounting as necessary to ensure accurate information is provided in a timely manner.
2. Analyzes completed jobs in preparation for accounting close by verifying proper accounting of waste variances and material consumption; reviews jobs closed with Plant Controller to ensure accuracy and explain significant variances.
3. Prepares monthly Jobs Closed Analysis Report and Waste Variance Report, including any explanations as necessary.
4. Prepares weekly Spending Report and summarizes monthly and year-to-date spending following monthly accounting closes; assists Plant Controller with analysis of spending per cost centeras requested.
5. Records all month-end transfers of inventory (raw material, work-in-process, finished goods)in and out of plant, coordinating with other plant accounting staff as necessary to ensure timely and proper recording of inventory transactions.
6. Assists Plant Controller with controlling physical inventory, including administering inventory cycle counts and adjusting books as necessary to reconcile records.
7. Prepares special analyses and/or runs special reports as requested by the Plant Manager.
8. Collects and prepares accurate information required by Corporate Accounting and forwards to Corporate Accounting in a timely manner.
9. May prepare production reports for assigned production operations at the plant; ensuresaccuracy and proper job order identification.
10. Has knowledge of all plant accounting clerical functions (payroll, accounts payable and production control) so as to assist in problem solving and to serve as back-up, filling in as needed (for vacations, etc.).
11. Performs other similar and related duties as assigned.
