Payroll Specialist, Parsippany or Downtown NYC -- CL2

Known as employers of choice for innovative human resources programs, they are dedicated to helping their clients and people excel.We have an immediate opening for a full-time PPSS Payroll Specialist in the Northeast Region.  This individual will be located in the Parsippany office (preferred) or in our Downtown NYC location, reporting to the Payroll & Personnel Support Services Manager for the NE payroll.  Qualified candidates will have minimum experience of 1-3 years in a clerical or accounting function with payroll experience preferred.
In addition, this person must be able to work well under pressure and handle confidential information.  Technical requirements include ten-key calculator experience, typing 50 wpm and knowledge of MS Office Outlook, Excel and Word.  Other requirements include strong written and verbal communication skills and an organized approach to working in a multi-task environment.  Some over time may be required.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
On-Boarding Process: Coordinates entire new hire, rehire and transfer on-boarding process. 
q       Monitors/updates (FTP Checklist portion) Central Notification Database requirements for new hires/rehires and transfers.
q       Conduct payroll specific orientation for employees (e.g. pay dates, local taxes, pay stubs, tax equalization.
q       Process SAP new hire, rehire and transfer payroll forms
q       Process signing bonuses, recruit loans, employee loans, tuition reimbursement and general relocation
Payroll/HR Change Forms: Responsible for processing
employee requests for SAP payroll/personal data changes including: tax withholding, direct deposit, address changes, etc…
q       Receive requests from employees via email, telephone, and mail
q       Complete SAP payroll/HR forms
q       Submit SAP payroll/HR forms to SSC for processing
q       Submit duplicate W-2 requests to Firm Payroll
 -                        Notify employee of processing
Other general duties
q       Answer incoming calls from employees regarding payroll questions
q       Conduct employee verification financial research.
q       Run basic pay reports for the cluster, such as alpha rosters
                                  Forward appropriate payroll transaction records to HR for maintenanceHigh School Diploma with at least one year of payroll experience is required.
Associate degree or higher is preferred.
Computer proficiency is required, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and  Excel.
General background in payroll taxes is necessary.
Overall understanding of tax reciprocal agreements, legalities of docking payroll, collections, leaves of absence, flexible work arrangements is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Be able to communicate effectively with among staff, management and SSC.
