PROJECT ACCOUNTANT & COST ACCOUNTANT

A premier gold mining operation has immediate openings in Eastern Nevada.



Newmont Mining Corporation, is seeking to fill new positions on the Nevada Operations Team.  The Carlin Operations are located on the renowned Carlin Trend that contains more than 20 major gold deposits.  Most of the 2,000 employees reside in Elko, Spring Creek, and Carlin, NV.  Newmont also has operations on the Valmy Trend.  Most of the 1,400 employees at these sites reside in Winnemucca and Battle Mountain, NV.   Projects are located across Nevada.  The position is located at the Carlin Operation near Elko, Nevada.

PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
Will be responsible for tracking actual vs. budgeted spending for all projects related to Nevada operations and reviewing authorizations for expenditure to ensure costs are classified according to company policy.  In addition, the project accountant will work closely with the Denver (headquarters) large project management team in accounting for the Nevada power plant project and with the Nevada capital manager to prepare capital forecasts and report capital spending.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and three years of accounting experience, or equivalent work experience required.  Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel is required.  Experience with Ellipse and Hyperion is a plus.  Must be able to work in a fast paced, team oriented environment and be able to work under the pressure of strict deadlines.  Must be a motivated self-starter, capable of working with little direct supervision.

COST ACCOUNTANT
The cost accountant will be responsible for GL accounting related to the functional area to which they are assigned, month-end close duties including journal entries, coding and cost reviews, as well as reconciliations.  In addition, they will work closely with their functional area management in he compilation and implementation of quarterly and annual forecasts and budgets.  Must be able to work in a fast paced, team oriented environment and be able to work under the pressure of strict deadlines.  

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent work experience required.  Experience with Ellipse and Hyperion is a plus.  Proficiency in Microsoft computer applications including Word and Excel is required.  Must work well in a team environment as well as individually.  Must be a motivated self-starter, able to work with little direct supervision.
