PAYROLL SPECIALIST

PAYROLL SPECIALIST

POSITION SUMMARY:

Primary responsibility is to ensure the accurate and timely processing of a high volume hourly payroll utilizing the Lawson Payroll system. Assist the restaurants with payroll issues and inquiries in a timely manner. Also responsible for all garnishments, including communication, set-up and administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Wage attachments: setup, complete and mail back answers; calculate deductions and reconcile
Monthly Prelims
Polling/downloading Aloha time system
Input and reconciling time entries
Daily Interim Checks: write, data entry and issue daily
Complete journal entries (various accruals) and enter into Lawson
Assist restaurants and employees with payroll issues; answer questions in a timely and courteous manner
Preparing and printing payroll checks
List stop payments & re-issue payroll checks
Gather month-end documents
Purge file room of documents on a quarterly basis and send to offsite storage
Store mail responsibility
Cultivate close and effective working relationships with external partners, internal departments and Operations
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 3-5 years payroll/basic accounting experience.
General understanding of payroll processing, laws, and regulations.
Ability to work in a fast paced, highly confidential environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook.
Ability to work independently as well as balance multiple priorities.
Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
Ability to coordinate with various departments including field operations and communicate with both technical and non-technical users.
Lawson, JDEdwards or other related HRIS/payroll systems experience a plus.
Experience working in a multi-unit, multi-state environment within the restaurant/retail industry is preferred.
