Adams Harris, Inc. start-up professional services firm focused on the highly visible areas of accounting/finance, internal audit, SOX, technology risk mitigation and corporate tax. This is a well funded/capitalized firm whose founders have previously built one of the premier firms in the industry. Our plans are to open offices in 25 cities over a 5 year period and employ over 1,500 people. Services will include hourly support, outsourcing, special projects and consulting. Core Competencies/Personality Profile:
As the senior representative in the local market, it is critical that the MD possess strong leadership skills, effective team building ability, exude high energy, demonstrate creativity and flexibility, and have a readiness to render sound judgment in a decisive and timely manner. In addition to having strong professional presence, MD's should possess key personality characteristics including self-confidence, insight, motivation, competitiveness, and a strong desire to succeed.
Basic Functions:
The MD is the leader in each market office and has overall responsibility for establishing and expanding marketplace presence. Critical to the success of a local office is the MD's ability to attract, lead and retain highly talented sales and delivery team members. The main roles and responsibilities can be separated into three primary categories: business development, operations, and administration. From a business development viewpoint, the MD will lead the sales force, comprised of Directors of Client Development, in establishing territories, nurturing client relationships and developing proposals. In the early stages of developing a market, the MD is very involved in client meetings, opportunity identification and proposal presentation. It is estimated that approximately 50% of the MD's time is spent on sales related activities and this percentage should remain constant as the market establishes its presence. Once sales opportunities are awarded to the Company, the MD ! transitions to the delivery side of the business and oversee the delivery professionals in all aspects of engagement management, including technical oversight. The MD ensures that engagements are performed at the highest level of client service. Recruiting of talented delivery professionals is critical to the success of the office and it is estimated that at least 40% of the MD's time will be dedicated to recruiting and overseeing engagements. As delivery professionals are added in the market, primary engagement responsibility will transfer to the Practice Directors, who are responsible for the execution of engagements within their particular areas of expertise. The final component of MD responsibility is administration, which is key to the efficiency and effectiveness of the local office operation. The MD has overall responsibility for all administrative functions including and coordination and cooperation with the corporate office of the Company in the areas of financia! l statement management, human resource functions, billing and other da y-to-day office operations issues.
REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirements:
4 year degree, CPA or MBA preferred
Professional Experience:
Ideal candidates for the MD role should have overall work experience of 12+ years gained through a combination of public accounting and/or industry accounting or auditing roles, and possess certifications such as CPA, CIA, MBA, etc. There should be a demonstrated path of leadership roles, involving management of professional and administrative staffs. Typical prior industry positions for our MD's may include Director of Internal Audit, CFO, Controller, Director of Tax, etc. Also, it is preferable but not required that MD candidates have experience with the consultative sales process used by the Company for selling professional services.
