Manager of Financial Reporting

Highland Hospitality is seeking to hire a manager of financial reporting to join a growing, lodging real estate investment trust, or REIT, located in McLean, Virginia. Highland Hospitality began operations in December 2003 when it completed an initial public offering and acquired its first three hotel properties. The Company currently owns 26 hotel properties ($1.3 billion of assets) in 13 states, the District of Columbia and Mexico.

This position will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, including SEC filings, board of directors and audit committee packages, and monthly executive packages. This position will also be responsible for overseeing the monthly closing process, managing the Company’s compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, coordinating internal and external audits, performing accounting research, and assisting on various special projects. The manager of financial reporting will report directly to the corporate controller.
REQUIREMENTS
The manager of financial reporting position requires an undergraduate degree in accounting with 5+ years of public accounting experience (prior SEC financial reporting experience a plus). This position will require someone with initiative, who can work well under pressure, has the ability to multi-task, and can promote a team environment.
