Manager, Financial Reporting (Ref.# JP25300-SJ)

Typical Responsibilities:Manage a staff of eleven employees involved in the preparation of monthly internal financial statements and quarterly and annual financial statements sent to shareholders, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the CPUC. Effort includes preparing all required financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory requirements, preparing all required disclosures included in the Notes to the financial statements and disclosures required by the SEC in the Managements Discussion and Analysis section of our quarterly public filings. Serve as coordinator of the EIX and SCE Joint Disclosure Committee, which meets quarterly to review the disclosures in the SEC documents to ensure that they are accurate, complete and clear. Manage the implementation of all new accounting guidance issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the SEC that have an impact on SCE or EIX, and provide technical analysis on the impact of this guidance for senior management. Responsible for providing technical analysis and consulting to Controller and other executives on the accounting impact of regulatory decisions. Responsible for maintaining and updating as necessary Sarbanes Oxley-related disclosure controls and internal controls over financial reporting to ensure that there are no significant deficiencies or material weaknesses in these controls resulting from work products produced within the Division. Serve as liaison to PricewaterhouseCoopers personnel during their quarterly review and year end audit of financial statements and internal controls over financial reporting. Manage the preparation of materials for Controller to present to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
REQUIREMENTS
Job Requirements:Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting or Economics, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Seven or more years experience managing, supervising or advising a group of analysts or project managers who prepare or audit accounting documents that are filed with the Securities Exchange Commission. Ten or more years of external financial reporting or financial auditing experience in the electric utility industry. Extensive knowledge and experience in the application of financial accounting and reporting rules and governmental/regulatory accounting requirements, including SEC rules and regulations, for rate-regulated enterprises. Detailed knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Ability to interpret highly technical accounting and financial reporting guidance. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with senior management and external auditors. Excellent oral and written communications skills, including significant experience in preparing or editing written reports and presentations for senior management, and the ability to communicate complex concepts. Proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point. Ability to work under stress and within tight deadlines and adjust well to changing priorities.
