Reporting to the Director-Finance, Science Education, this position will be responsible for overseeing, controlling and managing all accounting activities of the Science Education division of VWR International.

Specific responsibilities include:
Preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Reporting of monthly financial results to parent.
Maintenance of General Ledgers including account reconciliations and journal entries.
Implementation and maintenance of a strong internal control environment which is Sarbances/Oxley compliant.
Perform financial analysis including operational and financial ratios.
Assist in preparation of annual budgets.
Budget variance analysis.
Management of the accounting team.
Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support to management.
Development of accounting policies and procedures.
Support and participate in internal and external audits.
Assist the division director- finance as needed in preparing and/or analyzing divisional financial reports.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have a strong accounting background with a solid knowledge of GAAP. A CPA and accounting degree or equivalent experience would be a plus. Excellent PC skills are required especially in the use of Excel. An understanding of other accounting software including General Ledger and Fixed assets will also be required. Knowledge of AS400 operating systems and related query tools would be a plus. Good communication skills, both oral and written, is important as this position interacts and prepares reports for various levels of management.
