Primary day to day accounting resource to the mall management team. Depending on the mall size, complexity of lease administration and settlement work and geographic location, may be assisted by an Associate Mall Accountant. Primary responsibilities include the timely completion of annual tenant expense recoveries, maintenance of the lease database, ownership of the mall level DYNA forecasting process and maintenance of the mall level general ledger (if applicable).

Mall Accountant maintains Excel models for calculation of tenant expense recoveries and prepares annual settlement billings.

Mall Accountant prepares annual level billing rates for tenant expense recoveries.

Mall Accountant coordinates the collection of mall level management assumptions and inputs into the DYNA forecasting model monthly, adjusting for actual activity to date as well as the timing of future activity.

Mall Accountant reviews all new leases and lease amendments and updates the lease data base and the DYNA forecasting model on a timely basis in accordance with Corporate accounting requirements.

Mall Accountant maintains the mall level general ledger in accordance with Corporate Accounting requirements, meeting all month end closing schedules and all year end audit requirements.

Mall Accountant prepares monthly mall level financial statements with income statement variance explanations per Corporate Accounting and/or Joint Venture partner requirements.

Mall Accountant, in partnership with the Group Accounting Manager and the assigned Corporate Accounting staff, supports the information needs of the HQ departments that are responsible for legal collection efforts, property tax assessments, tenant expense recovery audits, payroll processing, specialty leasing initiatives, marketing fund expenditures and receipts and financing due diligence.

Mall Accountant maintains Corporate Accounting internal control procedures over various mall level activities such as gift card sales, credit card rent receipts, petty cash funds and other cash handling activities.

Mall Accountant supervises the activities and training of a non-exempt Associate Mall Accountant, if applicable.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Associates degree in Accounting or a 4-year degree in a related field(such as Finance, Business Administration, or Economics). 4 year degree in Accounting preferred.

2+ years accounting experience

Working knowledge of accounting processes and internal controls.

Computer literacy with substantial knowledge of financial spreadsheet software. JD Edwards strongly preferred.

Ability to prepare and analyze detailed financial statements and interpret same for mall management team.

Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Demonstrates analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
