Lead Analyst- Planning & Control

Utility Shared Services, an Energy East Company, is looking for a Lead Analyst – Planning & Control for its New Gloucester, Maine location.

Description:
Coordinates and leads activities within the planning and control support group, which has responsibility for insuring that each of the five operating companies and two utility service companies are provided with the planning information and support necessary to meet the financial targets and objectives put forth by EEMC management. Serves as primary contact with OPCO and Shared Service planning personnel and process owners to ensure common understanding and development of the ongoing planning and budget process requirements.

Requirements:
1.Develops, monitors and controls the processes used by operating companies to prepare and maintain sales and revenue forecasts, and operating and capital plans. Leads prioritization and planning of team responsibilities in the specific functional areas. Develops solutions through process changes or communication efforts to meet ongoing planning requirements. Prepares planning specifications for all approved planning processes and communicates those specifications to process owners and operating company personnel.
2.Assists operating company affiliates with the development of short-term (1 year) and long-term (3-5 years) earnings projections and updates. Prepares financial and accounting specifications for both the short-term and long-term earnings model application. Prepares documentation of all approved model specifications and communicate those specifications to process owners and operating company personnel. Leads prioritization and planning of team responsibilities for earnings projections. Develops solutions through process changes or configuration changes to meet ongoing end user requirements.
3.Oversees communication, controls and procedures to ensure efficient and accurate completion of department tasks. Leads team of planning and control analysts to coordinate integration points between the Shared Service Planning and Control department and the Operating Company planning personnel to ensure overall process coordination.
4.Develops and manages the internal cost management and reporting system utilized by the operating company affiliates. Prepares and documents management and end user reporting requirements. Coordinates updates to reporting system to ensure effective and timely reporting information is available.
5.Prepares monthly budget variance reports for individual operating company affiliates, working directly with operating company management.

Skills/Abilities:
·Comprehensive knowledge of accounting theory and principles related to public utility industry practice.
·Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with analytical competence required to effectively interact with all levels of management.
·Able to interact with the Operating Company budget coordinators and other stakeholders to analyze proposed changes to planning process and strategic model to optimize overall performance and reporting.
·Able to lead a group of two of more individuals.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience/Training:
·3 + years’ experience in Accounting, Budget, Finance or related field.
·Management skills required.
·Experience as Project Manager or Lead for multiple, major projects.
·Working knowledge of PC applications and mainframe Accounting systems required.
·Experience with sophisticated financial models that simulate earnings results, cash flow scenarios and financial position.

Required Education:
·Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Management. Equivalent experience will be considered.
